Brushing With Braces
Brush the outer surfaces of your teeth and braces with a circular motion. Tilt your toothbrush 45 degrees to clean the top and bottom of the braces. Use a proxy brush for cleaning in between your brackets.
Flossing With Braces
Don’t let braces stop you from flossing! An easier way to floss your teeth when you have braces is to use a floss pick. The thin flosser arm easily slides between teeth and brace wire, effectively removing plaque and food particles.
Braces Problems: Pain, Poking Wire, Sore Teeth, Broken Bracket
Problems with braces do occur from time to time. Fortunately, there is usually an easy solution to the problem. Of course, you should always contact us as soon as possible to see if you need to come in for an appointment.
Separators, Spacers: How to Replace
Separators or spacers are tiny elastic rings that are placed between two teeth. The purpose of separators is to create space for placing bands. Bands are metal rings to which brackets or other orthodontic attachments can be connected.
Orthodontic Jaw Expander: How to Turn
To activate the orthodontic palatal expander, insert the key into the hole of the screw, push towards the back of the mouth until you see the next hole appear, then remove the key.
Elastics
Rubber bands or elastics are an important part of your orthodontic treatment.
They provide the connective force necessary to move the teeth and jaw into the proper alignment.
